The Roshni Training Service aims to engage non traditional learners via the provision of accredited and non accredited learning opportunities. We aim to ensure that the training is culturally specific to enable Asian women to develop their skills, knowledge and experience. This will enable them to become more Confident citizens and support their families and local communities, more effectively. Courses that run throughout the year includes English Classes, Financial Independence Courses, etc.
The Roshni Engagement Service provides support to women seeking employment, but who may be disadvantaged due to their ethnicity and area of residency from taking up opportunities. The service aims to establish and develop links with hard to reach, workless women to enter training and employment by helping remove barriers they may face. As the local engagement centre, Roshni provides step by step information and guidance to take up of available channels of support and opportunities. This includes help with job search, putting clients onto training courses, referring them to key workers for individual support and guidance, help with completing CV's, Job Applications, etc.
Roshni is also now a UK Online Centre, which is set up by the government, to provide public access to computers. These Centres are a way of promoting technology for people, who do not have easy access to computers and who are often new to the Internet. Courses such as 'Myguide' and 'Online Basics', introduce people to the world of ICT and have become very popular in Roshni. Many of these women have moved on to join the Roshni ICT/Conversation Club, which runs every week, to further develop their IT skills.
