The Roshni Hardship Fund was set up in 2011, to meet the needs of destitute South Asian women and children living in Sheffield.
All the money we raise through the Hardship Fund goes directly to women and children in need. Some women leave home without anything, and it takes time to apply for benefits, and another 6 weeks before benefits come through. We support women and children to buy food, clothing and essential items during this time.
We meet many women who through no fault of their own have no money to buy vital things for themselves and their children. The increased cost of living since 2022 has brought more women and children into poverty and needing support from Roshni. You can help us by donating money to us.
You can support women by:
- Donating non-perishable food
Buy an extra tin or bag of flour next time you’re out shopping. We need long life milk, flour, chapatti flour, sugar, teabags, tinned tomatoes, soup, beans, spinach, tuna, potatoes, dried pulses and spices, rice, cleaning products and toiletries. - Donating new clothes and new shoes
Children are always growing out of clothes and shoes, but we all know how expensive it can be to buy new items. Please consider buying an extra set of clothing and donating it to a family who have almost nothing. - Setting up a regular donation via a standing order
