We run a weekly drama-based English conversation class, which is entirely run by volunteers. We follow an award-winning programme called ‘Creative English’ developed by Faith Action.
Our classes are delivered by three or four volunteers at a time. Volunteers are trained by the creator of this course, Dr Anne Smith. Volunteers receive a two day induction and training by her to deliver the programme. Lesson plans are provided to us by Faith Action. The volunteers’ role is to deliver the lesson plan in an interactive class, where the focus is on developing confidence in learners through speaking English in real life situations.
We are looking for:
- Female volunteers of any ethnic background (you don’t need to speak a South Asian language for this role).
- We ask for a regular commitment of a few hours a week.
No previous experience in teaching English is required. You can hope to gain useful work experience and our references, to help you find paid work after your volunteering with us.
