Volunteering at Roshni Sheffield
Roshni services are greatly enhanced through the vital contribution from volunteers. If you are interested in finding out more about volunteering with Roshni, we would love to hear from you.
Roshni was the winner of the Voluntary Organisation of the Year award by University of Sheffield Student Union in 2017. The student who nominated us had this to say:
“Roshni have given me endless support in achieving my future goal as a solicitor. Allowing me to boost my confidence in taking leading roles, working one-to- one with clients, providing emotional support, arranging meetings with solicitors, supporting vulnerable women who have difficulties in fitting into society and who just needed love, support and care in their day to day activities. The staff were very welcoming and I cannot thank them enough for the experience they have given me and the continuing support they are giving to clients that come to Roshni. Their care and kindness has supported me, as a volunteer, to grow as a stronger, more confident person.”
Currently we have the following volunteering opportunities available:
Good to know
Volunteers at Roshni have often moved on to paid employment due to experience and skills gained through their volunteering.
- Roshni volunteers regularly move on to paid opportunities within Roshni. Currently, about half of paid Roshni staff are former Roshni volunteers.
- Roshni volunteers gain skills and confidence to move into paid work outside Roshni as well. For example, just in 2018, two of our volunteers have secured work within the NHS, as an admin worker and as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner.
What our volunteers say:
“Volunteering at Roshni has opened my eyes to the problems in the community".
“I enjoy the one to one work. It gives me the satisfaction of helping others”.
